The Production played at the Basement of the Tivoli Theatre late night at weekends - produced by Tony Byrne - The Tivoli did not advertise it well and it closed after only a few weekends
MCD bought the rights from the Tivoli and we opened a new version with cast changes at the Olympia Theatre in January 1997 -
We also got "Sweet Transvestite/time Warp " on the "Late Late Show with Gay Byrne -
Most of the antics of the cast on the were technically illegal in Ireland at that time, and its probably the first time a man in a bustier and ripped black tights appeared on irish television... a watershed moment...
It was illegal to be Gay in Ireland in 1997. Trans was unthinkable and DRAG was a verb - not an artistic mode of self expression...
"it isn't easy having a good time"...
